After shooting our latest collection Tropiques in Tahiti, French Polynesia, here are our top recommendations for places to stay, eat and explore on this magical tropical island.

“Where to Stay?”

For smaller and more quaint accomodations with great interiors, book an Airbnb on the northern shore, between the cities of Hauru and Tema’e.

Mo’orea is however more known for bigger resorts with overwater bungalows, perfect for honeymoons and romantic getaways, such as Manava Beach Resort and Spa Moorea and Sofitel Moorea La Ora Beach Resort.

“What to Do?”

Rent a bike, care or boat to explore the island. The northern part of Mo’orea is particularly breathtaking and is the home to the island’s most dramatic landscapes; most notably Mount Rotui, Opunohu Bay and Cook’s Bay.

“Where to eat?”

Don’t expect fancy dining options in Mo’orea, everything is relatively laidback but with beautiful views and great fresh food. Some of our favourites were:

1. Snack Mahana
2. Allo Pizza
3. Mo’orea Beach Cafe
4. Toatea Creperie & Bar (at the Hilton Moorea)

“What to eat?”

Make sure to eat Poisson Cru while you are in Mo’orea, the famous dish from the French Polynesian Islands consisting of raw Tahitian fish soaked in coconut milk.

Also stop by one of the many fruit stand to buy fresh tropical fruits for a midday snack.
