The Milan Travel Guide With Hanna MW

A curated travel guide to the vibrant city of Milan, as shared by Fall 2024 Di Milano campaign stylist and friend of the brand, Hanna MW. With quotes from Hanna, peruse through some of the city's best hidden gems, local wine bars and organic and authentic Italian trattorias.

Where to eat

Trattoria Torre di Pisa

This is my favourite restaurant in Milan, for date night or dinner with a group of friends. It’s so charming and classy in the most perfect Italian way.

Da Giacomo

I don’t think I’ve ever been in Milan without a stop at Giacomo, it might be a little too Instagram-ed by now but it’s too good to not book a table here and it’s as beautiful as it looks. It's the best Spaghetti Vongole in town.

À Santa Lucia

This is a beautiful spot for lunch into the city centre. There's always so many beautifully dressed-up people to watch and admire.

All’Antico Vinaio

Here is the perfect take away lunch destination. My favourite one is the one with pistachios cream and truffle.

Bice Milano

If you’re shopping in the city centre this is a easy, can't-go-wrong spot for a satisfying lunch.

Trattoria Madonnina

This trattoria is a messy yet lovely spot, perfect for a late night dinner with a group of friends.

Where to spend an aperitivo hour

Bar Paradiso

This is a lovely wine bar with a good natural wine selection. The mood is always so lovely for an afternoon aperitivo, so much so I would recommend going here before dinner.

Bar Basso

The is one of few cocktail bars that balances rustic Italian charm and authentic, vintage decor with cosmopolitan-style drinks. One could say it's the bar that actually brought cocktails to the city of Milan.

What to see and do

Villa Necchi

This is a beautiful home you can take a guided tour around. I would pick up a coffee and croissant first and spend my morning here.

Villa Borsani

This villa is a residence that was envisioned and brought to life by Osvaldo Borsani. It is undeniably one of the most beautiful architectural homes I’ve ever been to.

Libraccio

"Even if you're not an avid reader, this is a book store well worth visiting, offering an incredible range of books to peruse."

Pavé

"If you're looking for a little pick-me-up throughout the day, this is a cute bakery for breakfast, coffee and snacks."

Where to stay

Crossing Condotti

This is a boutique hotel that spans two floors of a neoclassical Milanese building, shared by local families who have lived there for generations.

Galleria Vik Milano

There is actually a hotel located inside the iconic Galleria Vittoria Emanuele II. It is a truly unique stay that puts you right in the heart of Milan.

Vico Milano

Set in a sunny Italian courtyard, this is a unique villa, filled with the owner’s personal art and antique collection.

Max Brown Missori

Centrally located near the famous Duomo, this is a boutique stay with gorgeous personal touches like a record player in every room.
