“Joyah, what was your role on the shoot? ”

My role was to work with the photographer and models on set, and provide creative direction to bring the mood and inspiration behind the collection to life.

“Why did the team choose Tahiti as the location? ”

When we set out to design this collection, we were inspired by Brigette Bardot’S honeymoon to Gunter Sacha in the late 60s. The vintage photographs of the couple embracing and embodying the beauty of Tahiti, as well as the outfits and colours they wore really set the mood & creative direction for not only the campaign, but the collection in itself.

“How was your Tahitian experience?”

This was my first overseas trip post Covid, so it was an incredible location and destination to experience first hand after researching and referencing. From the picturesque landscape, beautiful locals & delicious fresh food, Tahiti will forever hold a special place in my heart.

“What was your favourite scene?”

I loved the aeroplane scene at the airport. This was a huge production behind the scenes, however such an authentic element that brought to life a lot of the iconic reference images of Brigette and Gunter in our mood board.

“What was your favourite creative aspect of the shoot?”

I always really enjoy pairing looks to scenes and styling out the scene, once we have found all of our locations and mapped out the logistics. Bringing in the vintage inspired styling, and the opportunity to style a male model (a first for Faithfull!) was also such a fun challenge. We worked with LA based stylist Emily Balius to curate a completely vintage wardrobe for our male model Dougie, and a mix of pre-loved vintage designer pieces for Daphne, to bring in the authentic retro feel of the shoot. All of the luggage used for the plane & hotel check in scenes were vintage from the 60s and were so iconic.

“What the highlight of the shoot?”

Working with such a talented team! Cameron & Rachel Hammond brought the shoot life is such an authentic and considered way and are always and incredible team to work with. We had the best time on set, with models Daphne & Dougie working together so effortlessly and bringing such great vibes on and off set! It made for a really special time.

“Your favourite piece from Tropiques?”

The Khalani Midi Dress really resonates with the inspiration behind the collection and is the perfect dress to wear through the festive season and beyond. I am loving one shoulder silhouettes and find whirring so flattering, I’ll definitely be wearing this style over the holidays.
