Step behind the scenes of the Summer 2024 collection, as the design team shares insight into their process – from sourcing references to discovering new fabrics, textures and patterns.

What was the inspiration behind the Summer 2024 collection?

Summer 2024 is a reflection of our core values – pure, timeless designs and traditional Balinese craftsmanship. We wanted to bring together a natural colour palette with signature styles and silhouettes, but also introduce new artisanal detailing, delicate handcrafting and unique fabrications.

Where did you look to for sources of inspiration?

We have always been inspired by the allure of travel when bringing our collections to life. Whether it’s a European summer or an island escape, our pieces are designed to transcend from the everyday to your holiday wardrobe.

We have also looked to nostalgic vintage references over the years. Marianne Faithfull, in particular, was a key inspiration for this collection, as she reflects many of our brand’s core values.

How would you describe the design process?

We started by looking at the core of the brand and pinpointing the purest version of the brand’s DNA. From here we moulded colour and fabric stories before creating them into silhouettes that fit within the FAITHFULL ethos.

What are some new elements that have been brought into the collection?

Macrame is a key story for the Summer 2024 collection, as we worked with artisans in Bali to develop a traditional technique that could be brought into a jersey fabrication. Each piece has been handwoven and taken several days to complete.

We’ve also brought in custom yarn-dyed stripes, signature to FAITHFULL. We’ve imagined them in classic shirts with organic oval-shaped buttons as well as new season swim separates. Classic silhouettes have been exaggerated with oversized skirts, elasticated hemlines and rounded sleeves, as you’ll see in the Anais Maxi Dress and Soleil Maxi Dress.

What was the inspiration or intent behind sourcing and introducing new fabrications for this collection?

We wanted to introduce new textures and new ways to experience an easy sensibility that can translate to travel through fabrics.

What are some key pieces from the collection?

The handcrafted macrame detailing on the Maceio Maxi Dress and Maceio Fringed Dress make these two of our most beloved pieces from the Summer 2024 collection. A unique approach to occasionwear, they’re designed to be styled with a simple leather sandal. Our new season stripes are also some of our key pieces, including the white taupe stripe in true knitwear – the Maxi Citara Dress, Citara Top, Citara Strapless Top and Citara Skirt.
