The Ibiza Travel Guide
There are few holiday destinations for a summer escape known quite as well as Ibiza. A vibrant Spanish island off the coast of the Mediterranean, beloved not only for its buzzing nightlife but its rocky coves, cultural heritage sites and traditional tavernas. Below, #FAITHFULLGirl and photographer Anna Pihan shares her guide to the best spots to covet.
Where to stay
Located on the North tip of the island, the bohemian boutique hotel offers 9 sea facing rooms decked out with burnt orange curtains and cornflower blue tiles, and a private balcony looking out to the fishing village of Portinatx. A beach bag with towel and swimming goggles can be found in your room during your stay.
Petunia, Ibiza, A Beaumier Hotel

Where to drink and dine
Organic farm-to-table serving fresh Mediterranean dishes, fresh juices, daily specials and cocktails. Sit under umbrellas during the day or at candlelight by night among the citrus orchard. Bookings essential.
El Bigotes
At Cala Mastella where the forest meets the sea, and the birds sing lies El Bigotes which is open only for lunch. It offers two seats under a scalloped white awning tucked in a small cove by the sea — the first service is fish and salad, the second is a fish — an authentic Ibizan dining experience. Fish Shack
Hidden away on the South side of the island with views of Dalt Vita. Simply cooked fish, potatoes and salad can be eaten on long wooden tables and chairs right on the rocks by the sea. Make sure to bring cash.
Freshly caught seafood dinner with a view of Es Vedrà and Cala d'Hort, perfect for a sunset seating. Bookings essential.
Open for lunch only from Tuesday until Sunday on Playa es Figueral, you’ll find locally sourced seafood, and Spanish inspired dishes, natural wine and laid back vibes right on the beach. Bookings essential.
A Mediterranean restaurant and beach bar is perfect for sunset dinner and sundowners under raffia umbrellas, terracotta tablecloths and green ceramics. Make sure you stop by the shop on the way out, it closes at 8pm. Bookings are essential.
Italian cuisine in the centre of the island for candlelight dinner in the garden. Bookings are essential.
Sa Caleta
A classic spot for dinner by the sea known best for its seafood. Bookings are essential.
Stay for cocktails on terracotta cushions with live lounge music amongst the palm trees and stunning views of Es Vedrà for sunset. Bookings are essential.
Where to swim
Cala Portinatx
A protected bay with a small stretch of sand where you can rent a sunbed and umbrella or wander over the rocks to find a smaller and more private inlet to swim and sunbathe.
Benirrás
In the north of the island, come early to find a spot to swim off the rocks in idyllic waters either side of the sandy beach. Roca y Mar has all you need for refreshments throughout the day. Hire a sunbed and umbrella or come with your own.
Cala Olivera
Calm, turquoise waters in the South East region of the island. Dive in from the rocks and there’s a small family run Chiringuito serving seafood and drinks during the summer.
Es Cabaret
Reach this cove by a 15 minute walk in the North. Arrive early to have the beach to yourself, stay for the views and the snorkeling. Found on the northern part of the island.
Cala Xarraca
On the northern side of the island swim from the sandy shoreline, explore rocky coves with a snorkel or dive into the sea from the rocks. Hire a sunbed and umbrella.
S’illot d’es Rencli Beach
A rocky limestone beach with clear waters. Bring a sarong and tie to the boat houses to create shade to spend the day swimming and snorkeling around the bay. There’s a restaurant just above that opens from 1pm to 5pm.
Where to explore
Walk through the Hippie Markets
There are a couple of Hippie Markets on the island, Las Dalias de Ibiza is by far the best and is open on Saturdays, and the night market is on occasionally.
Visit the Museum of Contemporary Art
It offers free entry and its permanent collection showcases works from the 1960s from artists like Antoni Tàpies and Michel Miralles.
Wander through the Old Town
Wander through the old town of Ibiza all the way to the top for excellent views.
Cruise on a boat to Es Vedra or watch the sunset over
Hire a boat and see the majestic Es Vedra from the sea. You can also find a spot on the main island to see the sun set over Es Verda. My favourite spots to go are at Cala d’Hort or the hidden look out right of Es Bolandro, at Benirras with the sound of drummers.
Catch a ferry to Formentera
Take a short ferry or private boat to the neighbouring island of Formentera from the port of Elivissa to discover azure swimming spots. Sit in at Besos for lunch.
